Via dei Due Macelli

Between Piazza di Spagna and Largo del Tritone, the ancient Via Paolina (thus named by Pope Paul III), with the prominent Collegio di Propaganda Fide, was the street in which Rome's meat market was located. During the 19th century, it was also the headquarters of the 19th century journal “Cronaca Bizantina” - frequented by the likes of Carducci, De Amicis and Verga - as well as the Salone Margherita vaudeville theater. Its stage was crowned with the verve of the time, consecrating artists of the caliber of Petrolini, Trilussa, Pasquariello, Aldo Fabrizi and Totò. Since 1972, it has hosted shows presented by the troupe “Il Bagaglino”
